September 9, 2023 - John‬ ‭5:19-20a

“So Jesus said, “I speak to you eternal truth. The Son is unable to do anything from himself or through his own initiative. I only do the works that I see the Father doing, for the Son does the same works as his Father. “Because the Father loves his Son so much, he always reveals to him everything that he is about to do.” John 5:19-20a TPT

Jesus, thank you for how you share your truth with us. You long to give us your revelations. We want to take in all you want to share with us. Help us value and apply the truth that you share with us.

Jesus, we ask for you to help us grasp this particular truth. This truth will really be a game changer in our lives if we apply it, but that could be said for all your truth. Lord, help us to understand the importance of only doing what the Father asks of us. Help us to walk this out in our lives always. Jesus, if you say you could do nothing by your own initiative, then how do we think we can? If you did nothing apart from the Father, then we don’t want to either.

Give us a greater ability to hear and understand your voice. We want to know what it is you are asking us to do each day in every situation. Jesus, if this is how you lived your life and impacted lives, then we want to live this way as well. Help us to know and follow exactly what the Father wants for us.

Father, we thank you for the love that you have for us. This verse says that because of your love for Jesus, you always revealed to him what you were about to do. We thank you that your love for us means that you will also reveal to us what you are doing. Holy Spirit, be with us and remind us to take the time to ask, listen, and walk in obedience.
