September 4, 2024 - Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭24‬-‭25‬

“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” Galatians 5:24-25 NLT

Holy Spirit, come and lead us. We invite you into every area of our lives. Lead us to righteousness. Help us nail the passions and desires of our sinful nature to the cross. We know that in most cases this isn’t a once and done thing. Those desires and others will likely come back again and again. Give us the strength to choose righteousness again and again. Grow our roots deep in your Word and lead us to verses that will help us overcome.

Jesus, we see you using Scriptures against the Devil when he tempted you and they immediately shut him down. Teach us how to use your Word as our shield and sword. Teach us how to overcome. When our sinful desires arise, let our hunger to please you arise even stronger. Bring the right verse to mind and let us use it to nail that desire to the cross. When we don’t succeed in this, help us to be quick to ask forgiveness and give us a stronger desire to try harder next time. Holy Spirit, it is only with your help that we can succeed in what this verse is telling us to do. Come and help us every second of all our days.
