September 4, 2023 - Job 11:14-18
“If you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent, then, free of fault, you will lift up your face; you will stand firm and without fear. You will surely forget your trouble, recalling it only as waters gone by. Life will be brighter than noonday, and darkness will become like morning. You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety.” Job 11:14-18 NIV
Lord, what a great “If and then” verse. The “then” promises of these verses sound wonderful. We want to live a life that is free of fault. We thank you that we can stand before you and lift our face up to you without fear. Thank you so much for the sacrifices that you made to make that possible, Jesus.
We thank you that we can live in a way that we get to forget all our troubles and only see them as waters gone by. Praise you that we can live life in your brightness and the darkness must flee. Thank you that these verses say it is possible. It says that we will be secure in your hope. Teach us to anchor ourselves in your hope, so that we find our security in you and no matter what storms come our way, they won’t even faze us. Let us always find safety and rest in you no matter what the world sends our way.
Thank you that this promises that all these things are possible if we get rid of our sin and refuse to allow evil to live in us. Lord, that is how we desire to live our lives. Help us recognize the sin that we are allowing to remain in our lives. Then help us overcome it and get rid of it. Thank you that the Holy Spirit lives within us and gives us the power to overcome. Holy Spirit, we ask for your help to rid our lives of all evil. Make us pure and holy. Thank you for the things you promised that are coming our way!
