September 4, 2022 - 1 John 3:16
“This is how we have discovered love’s reality: Jesus sacrificed his life for us. Because of this great love, we should be willing to lay down our lives for one another.” 1 John 3:16 TPT
Jesus, thank you for all that you sacrificed for us. The love that you demonstrated to us as you gave your life for us is not where it ended. You continue to demonstrate to us daily. We praise you for how you show it to us. In the moments of chaos when we just stop, take a deep breath, and ask for your help, we can see your love as your peace descends on us. When we start our day watching the sunrise, we can see you paint us some of the most beautiful pictures just for our enjoyment. Your love can be seen in how much thought and detailed handy work that you put into everything you created on Earth. You have surrounded us with so much diverse beauty to enjoy. We can see it in the way you speak to us and lead and guide our steps. You walk with us through our lives. What an amazing privilege to be so known and loved by you.
Jesus, we want to learn how to love like you. You have done so much for us; you deserve our everything. When we choose to put other things above you or we make decisions that don’t follow your directions to us, we are not loving you the way that we should. Let us choose to make you the Lord of our life and follow everything you ask of us out of pure love for you. You made such a sacrifice for us, and we want to be willing to sacrifice for you as well. Lord, we also want to be willing to love others in the same manner. Let us be willing to lay down our rights, comforts, selfishness, and even life itself if needed, not just for you, or our friends, but even for a stranger or enemies. That is the place where our witness of your true love is fully demonstrated. Let the way we live our lives be one of the ways you show your love to the world.
