September 30, 2022 - 1 Corinthians 3:11-15
“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.” 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 NLT
Jesus, we thank you that you are our rock, our sure foundation. We can trust you to always be strong and stable. We want to build our lives on you, and we want to build a life that makes a lasting impact. We don’t want to get to heaven and find out that what we built didn’t matter. We don’t want what we invested our time, talents, and resources into to be things that will just vanish at the end of our lives. Open our eyes to any place in our lives that we need to realign. Bring to light now the things that should be brought to light in our lives for us to make them right while we still have time. Show us how to build our life, out of the best resources you have given us, in a way that it will have an eternal impact. When the fires come, we want what we build to endure. We don’t just want to escape through the flames. Teach us how to build in a way that it fully stands up to the fire and passes the test as something built with quality.
Lord, I feel like we would all say that we want to build something that will last through eternity, but when it comes down to making the decisions day to day that need to be made for this to really happen in every area of our lives, it is actually pretty hard. Holy Spirit, please guide us in making this a reality in our lives.
In Jesus name, amen.
