September 27, 2024 - 2 Corinthians 9:8-12
“And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.” For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God. So two good things will result from this ministry of giving—the needs of the believers in Jerusalem will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:8-12 NLT
Lord, we thank you that you are our provider, and you provide more than enough. But these verses give us a key principle of your Kingdom. It says that you provide the seed for our bread. We must plant the seed to see it grow into the provision of our bread. The more seed that we plant the more bread we receive. It really is that simple. You give us the seeds and it is by planting them we see an abundant harvest in our lives.
Lord, teach us how to be generous with the seeds you give us. When we invest them in the right ways, we will get back even more. When needed, change our mindset of keeping the seeds for ourselves. Or even taking care of our own needs first and then giving out of the leftovers. That is not where we will find the abundant blessings. It is when we invest/give our seeds sacrificially, we will see the abundant harvest come in return. And when the abundance comes, teach us how to invest even more of it in your kingdom and see an even greater return. Transform us into very generous people, for your glory, our Lord.
In Jesus name, amen.
