September 21, 2024 - Genesis 18:16-22
“Then the men got up from their meal and looked out toward Sodom. As they left, Abraham went with them to send them on their way. “Should I hide my plan from Abraham?” the Lord asked. “For Abraham will certainly become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed through him. I have singled him out so that he will direct his sons and their families to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just. Then I will do for Abraham all that I have promised.” So the Lord told Abraham, “I have heard a great outcry from Sodom and Gomorrah, because their sin is so flagrant. I am going down to see if their actions are as wicked as I have heard. If not, I want to know.” The other men turned and headed toward Sodom, but the Lord remained with Abraham.” Genesis 18:16-22 NLT
Lord, I love seeing here how you open yourself up to Abraham and wanted to share your plans with him. We praise you that, like Abraham, you have chosen each of us and we each have a specific calling on our life. Just like you wanted to share your plan with Abraham, you also want to share your plans with us. How often are we too busy to stop and listen to you? How often are you speaking to us, but we don’t recognize your voice or don’t wait to get an understanding of what you are saying?
Lord, forgive us. We want to be friends who dwell with you and take the time to abide at your table. We want to know you and easily recognize your voice. We want to walk in the understanding that only comes with walking closely in your Spirit. We want to position ourselves in a place where you remain with us because we prioritize time with you.
In Jesus name, amen.
