September 21, 2022 - Colossians 3:23-24

“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24 NLT

Lord, we want to honor you in all that we do. Help us to see our every action as something that we are doing for you. You are our Lord and Master. Our lives should reflect you to our family, friends, co-workers, and ultimately everyone we interact with. We are your representatives here on earth. Teach us how to do the tasks set before us in a way that brings you glory. We don’t want to do halfhearted jobs and only perform well when we know someone who matters is watching. You are always watching. Transform our thinking and our hearts so that we desire to serve others to the best of our ability. Even when no one is looking and no one will know that we cut corners, remind us that you are watching and give us the strength to do a thorough job for your glory. Even when it isn’t our job, but we see something that needs to be done, challenge us to take the time to bless someone else and go the extra mile. Even if we will not get the credit, let us be willing to serve in the background. Help us to see you as the one we work for and not a boss, family, or any other human here on earth. We thank you for seeing all we do and for the rewards you send our way.

Lord, for those of us that are perfectionists, help us learn to have a healthy balance in this. We want to do a thorough job and bring you glory in all we do, but we know that you also are not calling us to “kill” ourselves to do things perfectly. Help us to find the balance you are calling us to. Let our heart always be to serve and do things to the best of our ability, but not at the expense of other more important things. Teach us and grow us in this area.
