September 20, 2022 - Isaiah 40:12-16
“Who else has held the oceans in his hand? Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers? Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale? Who is able to advise the Spirit of the LORD? Who knows enough to give him advice or teach him? Has the LORD ever needed anyone’s advice? Does he need instruction about what is good? Did someone teach him what is right or show him the path of justice? No, for all the nations of the world are but a drop in the bucket. They are nothing more than dust on the scales. He picks up the whole earth as though it were a grain of sand. All the wood in Lebanon’s forests and all Lebanon’s animals would not be enough to make a burnt offering worthy of our God.” Isaiah 40:12-16 NLT
Wow, God, what imagery. You are truly the greatest. I can’t even hold a tablespoon of water in my hand, yet you can hold all the oceans. My hand will measure about 6 or 7 inches and yours can measure the heavens. We humans have yet to find the end of the heavens. You know every detail about our planet and everything that is on it. You can hold it in your hand like a piece of dust, a grain of sand. We praise you that you are wisdom itself. Nothing can begin to compare to your knowledge. There is no one who could give you advice. You are the guideline that establishes what is good, for you are perfectly good. You are holy and righteous. The purest of pure that we can measure purity against. Lord, we worship you for your greatness. Hallelujah! Nothing can compare to you. What an honor to call you our God and to be known by you. It is such a privilege to consider you our father and friend. We want to have an intimate relationship with you, but never let us get so comfortable in knowing you that we forget the grandness of who you are. We want our lives to be about giving you the honor you deserve.
In Jesus name, amen.
