September 2, 2024 - Psalm‬s ‭133‬:‭1‬, ‭3‬b

“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore.” Psalms 133:1, 3b ESV

Lord, it is amazing to think that you command a blessing when we walk in unity. Your Word is full of places where we see examples of this. You say when two or three of us come together you are in our midst. You say that a cord of three strands is not easily broken. The enemy knows that if he can get us off doing our own thing that we are neither as strong nor effective. When we come together with people who are not just like us, their giftings strengthen ours. But our differences can make it hard to come together. Help us learn how to work together with our brothers and sisters in you. Help us learn to see our differences as a gift and not as an annoyance. Help take the time to try and understand each other. Help us to stop and ask questions in a loving manner and not just make assumptions about others. Teach us how to die to our selfishness and preferences when needed.

Lord, unify the body of Christ and let it start with each of us. Open our eyes to any places in our lives where we are promoting disunity with others. Help us forgive if needed. Help us apologize and ask forgiveness when needed. Help us cultivate unity all around us. Let us see a release of the blessing in our lives that you said you would command when we walk in unity.

In Jesus name, amen.
