September 12, 2024 - Numbers‬ ‭14‬:‭29‬, ‭33

“You will all drop dead in this wilderness! Because you complained against me, every one of you who is twenty years old or older and was included in the registration will die. And your children will be like shepherds, wandering in the wilderness for forty years. In this way, they will pay for your faithlessness, until the last of you lies dead in the wilderness.” Numbers 14:29, 33 NLT

Lord, we can see throughout scriptures, as well as history, how our children pay the price for our sin. So many sins are passed down from generation to generation. The children suffered with the same issues the parents struggled with. In this verse, we see how the children had to wander around the desert for 40 years because of the sin of complaining. You wanted to take all the children of Israel into the promised land, but the older generation eliminated themselves, and the younger generation had to wait to enter what you had for them until the parents died.

Lord, how often do our children suffer because of choices we make? When we choose to keep walking in sin are we dooming our children to suffer with the same issues? Give us the strength to overcome and break the cycle so that they don’t have to carry it on. Give us the resolve to say, “No more. It ends with us.” Then help us walk that out. Break the generational sins and curses off our bloodline now. Open our eyes to what they are and exactly what we need to do to see them broken. Lord, we praise you that with your power it is possible for us to overcome. We praise you for making us and our descendants overcomers.

In Jesus name, amen.
