September 11, 2022 - Hebrews 2:16-18

“We also know that the Son did not come to help angels; he came to help the descendants of Abraham. Therefore, it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then he could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people. Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.” Hebrews 2:16-18 NLT

Jesus, we are so grateful that you came to earth as a human to make a way for us to spend eternity with you. You became like us – fully human. You felt all our emotions. You faced the same trials that we go through. You know what loss feels like. You know what rejection and betrayal feels like. You also know what joy and happiness feel like. You know what it is like to choose the right path even when it isn’t the popular choice and when it will cost you dearly. You can relate to all that we feel and experience. How wonderful to serve a God that can really relate to us, who has walked the life that we have walked and overcome. You make it possible for us to do the same. We praise you that you will guide us through all we face. Thank you that no matter what we face and have to walk through in this life, we are never alone. We can trust that you are with us and will get us through. Thank you so much for your love for us. Thank you for how you care for us. You are so amazing to us.

It is hard to fathom that you, the Almighty God, would choose to sacrifice your life for us. You paid the price of all our sin. We deserved death, but you showed us mercy. We can never thank you enough. We owe you everything. We give you our lives and surrender to your Lordship. Whatever you ask of us is yours. Help us walk that out every day and surrender our selfish desires, for you are worthy!

In Jesus name, amen.
