October 4, 2022 - Hebrews 4:13

“Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” Hebrews 4:13 NLT

Lord, in some ways this can seem like a scary thought, but I find it so refreshing. We are totally exposed before you and you still love us. You know everything about us - the good, the bad, the things that we desperately want to hide – and yet, you still completely love us. You fully understand our motives even when we don’t understand it ourselves. You see every one of our struggles. The things we wish would stay covered up in the dark corners of who we are, are exposed before you. The masks that we put up to hide what we don’t want others to see, they don’t fool you. We can be totally relaxed before you. We can trust in your faithful love to accept us. When we fail and mess up again, we don’t have to cover it up or hide it from you. You already know, we just need to come to you and ask for forgiveness.

Lord, thank you that we can come to you with all our struggles and failures. We know that you will love and accept us just as we are. That is such a beautiful thing. We thank you for your grace and love. But we don’t want to use your love and grace as an excuse to live as we please. You will hold us accountable for our sins. Especially for those sins that we are aware of and still choosing to commit. We want to show our love back to you, to do that we must do all that we can to live in a way that is pleasing to you. We need your help. Give us your power and strength to overcome our selfish desires. Work in us to change our inner motives into motives that are pleasing to you. Heal the hurts and scars that cause us to react in a way that isn’t of you. Remove the lies that we are believing that keep us from living in your Kingdom ways. Work in us and change us from the inside out.
