October 3, 2024 - Romans‬ ‭14‬:‭17‬

“For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Romans 14:17 NLT

Lord, it can be so easy for us to get caught up in life on earth that we miss what life on earth is all about. It isn’t about us and making a good life for ourselves. This is our temporary home; the purpose is for us to get to know you as much as possible and to make you known to as many people as possible. This world is only to prepare us for the next. The choices we make in our lives here determine how we will live for all eternity. Oh Lord, what a strategy of the enemy to blind us to this truth. He loves to blind us to the truth. He loves to get us caught up on focusing on what will make us temporarily happy here on earth. He loves to distract us with arguing among ourselves over what we believe is right or wrong, so we are too busy and distracted to see and understand the truth.

Holy Spirit, open our eyes to the truth. Help us to see and understand what our true purpose is in our short time on earth. Help us to not get wrapped up in the strategies of the enemy to keep us from our true purposes. Teach us how to value living our life in the goodness, peace, and joy that comes from fully yielding our lives to your Holy Spirit more than valuing the things that will pass away.  Help us learn to put a much greater value on what will matter for all eternity than earthly treasures and pleasures that we will only have for such a short season. They truly hold no value other than how we can use them to advance your Kingdom. Help us be willing to make sacrifices while we are here on earth that will allow us to see as many people as possible living eternity with you in Heaven.
