October 29, 2024 - Psalms‬ ‭34‬:‭18‬

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” Psalms 34:18 NLT

Our Lord, how wonderful you are. We praise you for never leaving us alone. We praise you that you see us when we are at our worst, in the brokenness, when we have nothing to offer, you still choose to draw close to us. We praise you that you require nothing from us in return, but you freely love us. You are not afraid of our brokenness. Even when we can’t put into words or explain what we are feeling, you see and understand. You understand what is going on within us even better than we understand. Jesus, you understand our emotions. You have felt hurt, betrayals, loss, and more. You have experienced it and can understand us. You also see not just what we are feeling in the moment, but all the moments throughout our lifetime that are accumulating into what we are feeling in any given moment. You truly understand us. You care for us.

How wonderful that you want to see our brokenness restored. You want to take our crushing and use it to create something beautiful out of our situation. You want to use it to grow us stronger than we were before. You want to redeem what the enemy meant to destroy us. You are a master at doing all these things. When we are in a broken and crushed place, remind us of these facts. Help us not to get mad and push you away but help us draw close to you. We want to allow you to do that work that needs to be done so that you can create beauty out of the situations we find ourselves in. Help us to walk in obedience to what you are asking of us so that you can bring healing. Don’t let us be the hold up to what you long to do in us.

In Jesus name, amen.
