October 24, 2022 - James 3:17

“But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.” James 3:17 NLT

Lord, we ask you for more of your wisdom from above. Even the human with the highest IQ can’t even begin to come close to your wisdom. You said if we ask for wisdom that you will give it to us generously. We come to you today asking for more. We want to have a better understanding of your kingdom ways. We want a clearer discernment on what you are doing, as well as what is going on in the supernatural realm around us. We want to be able to more wisely lead the people you have placed in our life. To do any of these things really effectively, we need more of your wisdom released over us.

Lord, I love how this verse paints the picture of wisdom. It isn’t something prideful that comes out with an arrogant attitude. It isn’t something that is used for selfish reasons or in order to get ahead, but it is used to benefit others. It is pure and when it is shared it is shared with pure motives. It comes across gently even if the message it is sharing isn’t easy to hear. Jesus, I think of how you were with the Pharisees who were trying to trip you up and trap you. You used stories that spoke the truth in a way that they heard your point, but in a way that diffused their evil motives instead of making the situation worse. What a beautiful example of how your wisdom brings truth in a peaceful and loving manner. Jesus, teach us how to walk in that kind of wisdom. Lord, we also understand that you are not going to give us more than we can handle or share your secrets with people who are not mature enough to handle them. Mature us in our walk with you. Purify us so that we can go deeper in you and receive more from you.
