October 22, 2023 - 1 Kings‬ ‭8:56

““Praise the Lord who has given rest to his people Israel, just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the wonderful promises he gave through his servant Moses.” 1 Kings 8:56 NLT

Lord, it is so wonderful that you are a God that keeps your word. We can fully trust you to stand behind your promises. We also recognize that your promises often also come with an “if”. You promise something wonderful if we do such and such. Help us to be faithful to uphold our end of the agreement, so that we can live in your promises. Open our eyes to any place that we are not living up to those things and thus are not living up to the fullness of what you have for us.

This verse says that when we are weary that you will give us rest and strength. We need that, Father. When we look at all that is going on in the world around us, there is so much that can easily weigh on us and drag us down. There are so many things pulling at us and demanding from us. We live in a fast-paced society that can run us ragged if we are not making sure to refill in you. Lord, we need your rest. Show us what we need to do to align our lives more with you. We want to be people who are known for the peace that we carry. Let our peace and rest be a light on a hill that draws others to you and your kingdom. Lord, we come before you this morning and ask that you would fill us up with more of you. Replace our weariness with your rest, joy, and strength. Give us your strategies on how we are to live our lives in your kingdom’s principles that so often are very different from how our world works, so we can walk in all your promises.

In Jesus name, amen.
