October 20, 2022 - Psalms 150

“Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heaven! Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness! Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn; praise him with the lyre and harp! Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals. Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD! Praise the LORD!” Psalms 150 NLT

Lord, we thank you for music and the many instruments that can be used to create such different sounds. You gave us such a wide variety of sounds to enjoy. It is hard to imagine life without music. It has the power to move us, to inspire us, to change our mood, and help us remember. For some people, it can be used as a great tool to help them articulate how they feel in a way that words can’t match. It is such a wonderful way for us to express our worship to you.

As we read these verses, we see how the instruments not only accompany the worship, but the sounds they make are worship itself. They are making the joyful noise they were created to make as a declaration of worship to you. We want to learn to live our lives as an instrument to you, Lord. Like an instrument was created with a purpose that creates worship unto you, we were also created with a specific purpose. Lord, you are the master musician. If we will allow you to use us as your instruments and trust you to “play us” however you want, our lives will become a beautiful melody of worship to you. Help us remember that even if our part seems small, it is just one of the instruments playing in your orchestra. When our part is added to everything else, we become an incredibly beautiful symphony of music. Help us allow you to fit us into your symphony and live our lives so our every breath is worship to you.

In Jesus name, amen.
