October 2, 2024 - Ruth 3:11
“Now don’t worry about a thing, my daughter. I will do what is necessary, for everyone in town knows you are a virtuous woman.” Ruth 3:11 NLT
Lord, what an honor it must have been for Boaz to speak these things to Ruth. In the time that Ruth has been in town, she had lived in a way that everyone could see that she was a virtuous woman. In the book of Ruth, we only see a small glimpse of her life. We don’t see all the things she was doing or not doing that earned her that statement.
Lord, we ask for you to help us live our lives in a way that this statement could easily be said of us as well. Would our friends say that about us, our co-workers, the people sitting in the cars next to us in traffic, our family, those who attend our church, parents of our kid’s friends, etc.? Are there any of these groups or others like them that might have a different opinion of us other than us being a virtuous person? Are our moral standards set where you want them around every group of people in our lives? Are we living in a way that we are running from the ways of the world and setting our standards where they match your Kingdom ways, or are they so close to the ways of the world that the difference is hard to recognize? Show us these things, Lord. Show us if there are any places in our lives where we are not living as we should be. Open our eyes to any places where we are not living in your Kingdom ways. Change us so we don’t desire to hide you within us in any areas of our lives, but that we desire to stand out as different in every area of our lives. Let us shine your light brightly and raise our moral standards high, so that not only does everyone around us know us as virtuous people, but you see us as a virtuous person.
In Jesus name, amen.
