October 17, 2022 - Isaiah 9:7

“His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!” Isaiah 9:7 NLT

Jesus, there are so many things in this verse that I love about you. We praise you that your government will never end. We never have to worry that you will be overthrown. We praise you for the peace that you will rule with. We can spend all eternity living in your peace. That sounds so wonderful. When we look at the world we live in, it is so desperate for your peace. There is so much strife, conflict, war, and rumors of war all around us. There is so much for us to be anxious and worried about. We look forward to the day when we can spend eternity with nothing to worry about or nothing threatening to take away our peace. Lord, we also ask that while we are here on earth that you would teach us more about living in your peace. We want to be a shining example to the world in turmoil around us how to live a life fully trusting in you and resting in your peace.

Lord, how amazing to think about how you will rule in fairness and justice. And we can trust that it is truly fair, for you see the full picture and understand the motives behind actions. You do not view any person less because of skin color, education, where they are from, what they did or didn’t do, or who their family is, but you see and value each of us individually. We praise you that you will not rule from a place of corruption. You are not prideful, but humble. You are not greedy or selfish, but abundantly generous. You are not a tyrant, but a loving Father. You are not unforgiving, but full of mercy. You are truly a passionate God, who is fully committed to each of us who call you our King. And what an honor it is to have you as our King.
