October 15, 2024 - Psalms 37:7
“Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.” Psalms 37:7 NLT
Lord, this sounds like such a wonderful thing, just to sit still and wait on you without a worry. Why do we make it such a hard thing? You are trustworthy. You say that you will defend us and protect us. We can count on that to be true. It might look different than what we wanted, but you will always be there for us. The reason that we have such a hard time being still and waiting on you is because we don’t truly trust you. We want to do things our way. We want to know that our hurts are being vindicated. Please forgive us for trying to take control and not fully trusting you.
Lord, we know that you will not let evil prosper. There will be a time in which you put an end to it. We know that you see it all. It breaks your heart more than we can imagine. We can trust you to have our backs. Help us to trust you even when to us it looks like you are not helping, when evil seems to be winning all the time. Even in those situations, let us learn to be still and wait on you. Help us to fully trust you and your ways. When we are hurt, let us bring our hurt to you so that you can bring healing and restoration. Use it to make us stronger and our relationship with you deeper. We never want to blame you for our hurt or for not showing up. Please show us any place in our lives where this is the case and help us to change our thinking in these areas. We thank you for how much you love and care for us. You are the most amazing, loving Father we could ever have. Thank you for always being there for us.
In Jesus name, amen.
