October 14, 2022 - Psalms 33:10-11
“The LORD frustrates the plans of the nations and thwarts all their schemes. But the LORD’s plans stand firm forever; his intentions can never be shaken.” Psalms 33:10-11 NLT
Lord, we as mankind are so good at making plans. We make big plans, small plans, plans for just ourselves and plans that affect others around us. We make good, healthy plans with great motives and we make plans with all the wrong motives that promote evil. So many plans. Lord, we don’t want to make plans in our own way and our own wisdom. Remind us how to come to you as we are making our plans and ask for your opinion and wisdom to guide us. We want our plans to align with your plans and not to constantly have our plans frustrated by you. As much as we want our plans to align with yours so we don’t have to see them frustrated, we do ask that you would frustrate the plans that we have that are not of you. We don’t want to push forward with things that are not of you. We commit to your will and not our own.
Lord, we also ask for you to frustrate the plans that are made by leaders in our world that are not of you. There are so many plans being made in our world right now by rulers and leaders that do not glorify you. They are motivated by pride, greed, and other things and not love. They are made to destroy and not build up. It breaks my heart when I watch the news; how much more does it break yours? Lord, forgive us for the plans and decisions we make that are motivated by evil.
Lord, we thank you for how sure you are. You are a “safe bet”. You are a firm foundation that cannot be shaken. We don’t have to worry about your consistency. We praise you for not being fickle. If you say it, you will bring it to pass, we can count on you. Thank you for never letting us down. Help us learn to always stand on your certain plans and not our own.
