October 1, 2023 - Philippians 4:8

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8 NLT

Lord, we want to learn how to really fix our eyes on you. Help us not to be distracted by life around us. We want to make you and your ways a priority over everything else in and around our lives. Help us learn to recognize and overcome the distractions that our enemy loves to throw before us to keep us distracted.

As we look at the world around us, we are surrounded by things opposite of these attributes. We get so used to seeing our surroundings we don’t even recognize it as evil. We don’t recognize how it infiltrates us and holds us back from all you have for us. Help us guard ourselves from ungodliness.

Holy Spirit, would you heighten our discernment. Help us to easily know the difference between truth and lies that are disguised as truth. Help us learn to live honorable lives. We want to honor you and others we encounter in all our actions. Increase our desire to walk in purity. Help us choose to always do what is right. We want to live pure lives before you. Help us remove the actions that are sinful and purify our hearts. Help us truly live a life of admiration of you and your ways. Let the way we live our lives be lovely and admirable before you.

We want to look upon you and have you be our focus. We want to see all of your lovely attributes. You are so worthy to be the center of our focus and the recipient of all our praise. Today, we commit to working at fixing our eyes on you and your ways.

In Jesus name, amen.
