November 7, 2024 - Deuteronomy‬ ‭11‬:‭8‬-‭9‬

“Therefore, be careful to obey every command I am giving you today, so you may have strength to go in and take over the land you are about to enter. If you obey, you will enjoy a long life in the land the Lord swore to give to your ancestors and to you, their descendants—a land flowing with milk and honey!” Deuteronomy 11:8-9 NLT

Lord, we want to be followers of yours who obey everything you have commanded us. Please examine our lives and show us the places where we are not doing so. Break our hearts over these areas and give us a deep desire to change that behavior. Please forgive us and help us run from that behavior. Show us where the slippery slopes are that quickly lead us into that behavior and help us to stay away from them. Holy Spirit, we welcome your help in this area. Set off alarms in us that we can’t ignore when we are getting close to these slippery slopes. Even if the slopes themselves are not bad, help us to understand why they are bad for us and why we must stay clear of them. Give us a greater desire to walk in righteousness than caring what other people say about us staying away from these slippery slopes.

Lord, we want to fully enter into all the promises you have for us.  We want to live a long life in the land flowing with milk and honey. We want to win all the battles that we need to win to enter into all you have for us. Show us anything we personally need to give up in order to do this. We want to be willing to lay down anything you ask of us. Help us to be willing to stand out as different from those around us if it means walking in obedience to you. We want to say a quick and strong, “yes” to whatever you ask. Holy Spirit, please help this become a reality in our lives.
