November 7, 2023 - Ecclesiastes: 4:12

“A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12 NLT

Lord, here we see you speaking to us about fellowship and telling us it is better not to be alone. Thank you for this wisdom. You designed us to succeed in life together. I pray today that you would give each of us strong Christian friends. Friends that will speak the truth and encourage us forward in you. Friends with integrity that will have our back. Friends that are there for us and will fight with us when we are facing a battle. Friends that are quick to offer up prayers for us even before we need to ask.

Lord, thank you that you are a God that lives in relationship. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, walk in a perfect unity of three strands. Teach us how to walk with others in a unity like you have. Holy Spirit, I think that you are the “glue” that holds us together and makes unity possible. Help us learn how to put you in the middle of our relationships. Teach us how to be good friends like you.

Jesus, I think of when you came to earth, you purposefully put a group of people around you so that you did not stand alone. If you needed a group of people to fellowship and do life with, how much more do we need the same. I also think about how it was when you went into the wilderness alone that Satan came against you so strongly in an effort to defeat you. He tried so hard to tempt you when you were alone. That is when it is the easiest to fall. Help us learn from that and be purposeful in placing good friends around us to help us stay strong in our journey of life.

In Jesus name, amen.
