November 7, 2022 - 2 Timothy 2:3-4

“Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them.” 2 Timothy 2:3-4 NLT

Lord, we want to be good soldiers in your army. We want to take back ground from the Devil. We want to do all that we can to shine your light into his darkness. Help us be lighthouses showing the way to those trapped in the darkness. We don’t want to be soldiers who give up when the war gets hard. We don’t want to be soldiers who are not prepared for the battles we will face. We want to be soldiers who always follow orders. Teach us how to hear and know your voice more clearly, so we can follow. Give us your wisdom and understanding to correctly comprehend exactly what you are asking of us.

Jesus, teach us how to endure suffering for the greater cause. Any good soldier knows how to make sacrifices for the greater mission. They know what it means to pay a price if necessary. Jesus, you certainly paid a high price to win us our freedom. We want to be willing to do the same to make sure everyone is aware of the price you paid for their freedom. We want to make sure the world knows and understands that true freedom is freely available to them. Help us be willing to pay any price you ask of us to accomplish this. Whatever role you have given us in your plan, we want to rise to fulfill it. For you are worthy of every soul on earth having the opportunity to come to know you. We are no longer normal “civilians”. When we made you the Lord of our lives, we committed to follow your ways. We enlisted in your army. Help us always to stay focused on our mission and not get distracted by the ways of this world. Help us live a life that is pleasing to you, our Lord.
