November 30, 2024 - Psalms‬ ‭46‬:‭8‬-‭10

“Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”” Psalms 46:8-10 NIV

Lord, we praise your mighty name. You can’t be defeated and there is nothing that won’t fall before you just at the sound of your voice. When we stop and look around at all that you have created; when we read the stories of your mighty deeds throughout the generations past; when we take account of all that you have done in our lives how can we not bow in worship for your many great acts. You are worthy of all praise. Great are your wonders. Worthy is your name to be praised. How quickly we get wrapped up in our lives, our needs, and our accomplishments and we forget to just stop and praise you.

Help us learn to stop and be still. This is so hard. There are so many demands on our time. So many things that need our attention. But Lord, nothing is more important than you and giving you praise. Help us prioritize our lives correctly. We must learn how to rest in you. We must stop and know that you are God. We must take the time to account for your goodness in our lives. The “To Do” lists are not more important than stopping so that we can see you. Really see you. Right now, we stop, and we look at you. Open our eyes. Oh Lord, arrange our lives so that they exalt you more than anything else. Let our lives shine your light to the ends of the earth.

In Jesus name, amen.
