November 3, 2024 - Deuteronomy 8:12-14, 18
“For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in, and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else, be careful! Do not become proud at that time and forget the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt. Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.” Deuteronomy 8:12-14, 18 NLT
Lord, we praise you for the many blessings that we have in our lives. It can be easy to look around us and think that we have done well in life. We might look at our homes, cars, family, other belongings, thinking that we have earned it. Even those of us who might think we have little, but compared to so much of our world, our lives are prosperous. We recognize that without you, we would have nothing. It is only through your blessing and love, that we have life and the ability to work. The money that we work to earn is only possible because of the talents, skills, and abilities you gave us.
Lord, forgive us for our pride. Show us any area in our lives that we have forgotten you and not given you the credit due to you. Help us to always keep the right perspective and to praise you for all that we have. We praise you for giving us the ability to succeed. We praise you for the many blessings that we have in our lives every day. We praise you for any achievements and accomplishments in our lives. We praise you for making us prosperous. We want to be known by you as people who walk in gratefulness for all that we have. Help us to always keep our eyes on you as our source and provider.
In Jesus name, amen.
