November 25, 2024 - Joshua 5:13-14
“When Joshua was near the town of Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with sword in hand. Joshua went up to him and demanded, “Are you friend or foe?” “Neither one,” he replied. “I am the commander of the Lord’s army.” At this, Joshua fell with his face to the ground in reverence. “I am at your command,” Joshua said. “What do you want your servant to do?”” Joshua 5:13-14 NLT
Lord, how often do we want you to be on our side? We have a want, a plan, or a mission that we want so badly for you to come along and make happen for us. We can easily get mad at you if things don’t go the way we want or if something bad happens to us. Forgive us for the times where we have thought that you were against us. Lord, you are never against us, and you want to see us succeed more than anyone else ever will. You love to pour out your blessings over us. It is not wrong to ask you for our desires, but help us not to become like spoiled, entitled children that believe you are there for no other reason than to give us what we want. Give us a correct view of you and help us have grateful hearts for all your many blessings.
Rewire our thinking so that it reflects your truth. We don’t need to pray that you would be on our side, but that we would always seek to be on your side. We want to spend time in your presence and hear from you. We want to know what you are up to and change our life to align with what you are doing. We want to be on your side. We want to see you as the Almighty God that you are. It is remarkable that you call us your children and allow us to freely enter your throne room and come before you. Wow. How amazing. We want to be very familiar with your throne room because of the time we spend in your presence, but never let us forget who we are serving. Help us to always live from a place of awe and reverence of you.
In Jesus name, amen.
