November 23, 2022 - Psalms 9:9-10
“The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.” Psalms 9:9-10 NLT
Lord, we praise your name. You are our strong tower. We can always find a safe place in you. Even in life’s craziest storms, we can rest in your peace when we hold tight to you, our stronghold. Nothing can defeat us if we allow you to be our guard. When others come after us with a vengeance, we can trust you to defend us. Lord, this can be a hard task, as your defense doesn’t always look like we want it to. Help us to have patience and trust in you. Help us not to try to defend ourselves and fight back in our own strength. We will likely fail and make a bigger mess of the situation. Help us keep our eyes and ears focused on you and walk in obedience to all that you ask. Jesus, we look at your story and how the Pharisees were constantly trying to find a way to tear you down, even purposefully trying to trick you. You were punished, ridiculed, beaten, and suffered a terrible death, yet that wasn’t the end of the story. There was a tremendous victory that came through all of that. We are so grateful for your story. When we are facing unfair situations and we don’t see your immediate response, help us remember that we can trust you to bring victory in the end.
Lord, we praise you that you don’t forsake those who seek you. We want to always be found as people who seek you in every season and every circumstance. Even in the season of pain, even in the seasons of injustice, even in the seasons that make no sense, we want to press into seeking you. We want our trust in you to stand strong and our relationship with you to be deepened. Grow our trust in you so this statement is always our reality. For you are still worthy even in those seasons.
In Jesus name, amen.
