November 19, 2022 - Psalm 51:10-12
“Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.” Psalm 51:10-12 NLT
“Lord, we come before you today and give you our presence. We want to sit at your feet and just enjoy you. We want to get to know you more. We want more of you in our lives. Teach us how to silence our minds and push out all the distractions so we can just sit in your presence and truly get to know you. Teach us how to hear your whisper. Teach us who you are so we can discern your Spirit when you are moving around us. Lord, we want to be willing to pay that cost to go deeper into knowing you. We don’t want to stay at surface level where it is easy and safe. No, never let us settle for that place. We want all that you have for us at any cost.
Lord, show us what holds us back. Matthew 5:8 says, those with a pure heart will see God. Clean our hearts and purify us. We want to see you. We long for more of your presence. Please don’t push us away, because of anything or lack of anything in our lives. Change us into who you want us to be. Don’t let us miss you because we were not focused on you. There are so many distractions that we allow in our lives that pull us away from you. Place a new longing in us for more of your presence. Not what we can get from you, but more of you. Let us fall more in love with you. Stir love for you within us. Give us a deeper hunger for you. Restore our first love for you so that we long to spend time with you. New love that wakes up singing your praises. New love that can’t get enough of your Word and presence. New love that can’t help but talk about you with others. New love that is heartbroken at the thought of disobedience to you. Let knowing you more be our heart’s cry.
