November 18, 2022 - Galatians 5:24-25
“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” Galatians 5:24-25 NLT
Lord, we need your help to live this verse out. Help us nail our sinful passions and desires to the cross. We ask that you strengthen us so that we have the ability to not just nail them to the cross but to leave them there. Help us each day to make that decision and stick with it. Remind us to stay in your presence and run to you when we are facing temptation. It is when we start to feel ashamed and run from you that we will fail. Help us recognize when we are trying to do it in our own strength. Show us the safeguards that we need to have in place that will guard us from allowing the passions and desires to get the best of us. Open our eyes to the lies that we believe that make it easier for us to find ourselves giving in to those sins. Lead us to scriptures that we can use as a weapon to defeat the enemy when he sends temptation.
Holy Spirit, we look at how Jesus was so full of you and lived his life through your power. He walked in perfect unity with you. We want to make time for you and submit our lives to you. Help us get to know you more. We want to discern and immediately yield to your warnings. We want your wisdom and guidance as you lead us away from situations where the temptation will be too great. We want the power to respond in your ways, no matter how people act towards us. We want to recognize when our actions are motivated by selfishness, pride, or any other sinful influence. Purify us and remove those sinful motivations from our hearts. Change us from the inside out. We need more of you in our lives. Holy Spirit, teach us how to yield ourselves to you. Lead us in all we do.
