November 17, 2024 - 1 Corinthians 3:2-3
“I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. And you still aren’t ready, for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren’t you living like people of the world?” 1 Corinthians 3:2-3 NLT
Lord, we thank you that with your help we don’t have to allow our sinful nature to control us. You want to see us grow in you. You have given us the authority to overcome the temptation of the enemy, and you want to teach us how to stand in authority against sin. We praise you that we don’t have to overcome on our own, we can’t do this in our own strength. How wonderful that you don’t expect that of us. It is only in your strength we can be overcomers. With you we can slay our sinful nature time and time again throughout the day. The more we overcome, the stronger we become. The more we kill our sinful nature, the more we take on your nature. The more mature in you we become.
Oh, our Lord, how we want to walk in your maturity. We don’t want to live off milk. We want to feast on all that you have for us. We don’t want to miss anything you prepared for us because we are still allowing our sin nature to control us. Please grow our desire to crucify it daily. Teach us how to rely on your strength to do this. Open our eyes to any place in our lives where we are allowing our sin nature to win. Help us see and love others the way you see and love them. Help us forgive others the way you forgive us. Change us to be more like you. We want to allow you to uproot anything from our life that isn’t pleasing to you. We don’t want anything in our lives that pushes you away. Grow us, Lord. Mature us and teach us to press into you in deeper ways each day.
In Jesus name, amen.
