November 15, 2022 - Galatians 5:16-17

“So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.” Galatians 5:16-17 NLT

Holy Spirit, if we want to truly walk in Kingdom ways, we desperately need your guidance in our life. We need to live in a state in which we are constantly full of you and yielding to your guidance. Our sinful nature is persistently fighting for ground in our lives. Holy Spirit, please help us overcome the temptations that it craves. We don’t want to choose to do evil. We praise you that you have overcome evil. It has no power over you, and you live in us! Hallelujah. If we are full of you, we have the power in us to overcome any temptation and craving for something evil. How wonderful!

God, we want to live the holy lives you desire for us. We praise you that you make this possible. Holy Spirit, we ask for you to increase our desire to do what pleases God. Constantly remind us how important it is that we stay full of you so that we have an abundance of your power in us to help us overcome the evil desires within us. We understand that we cannot overcome the cravings for temptation without you. You are the weapon that gives us the advantage in the war within us. Give us the desire to stop the busyness of life, to make time to sit in your presence, and allow you to fill us. It is in that place we will find more of you and the power to overcome. Give us the resolve to pay the cost to slow down and sit in your presence. We long for more of you in our lives. Restore us into the people you created us to be. Let our lives bring glory to you.
