November 12, 2022 - John 14:19
“Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.” John 14:19 NIV
Lord, we thank you that even though you left the earth and returned to heaven, you have not disappeared. You are all around us. We might not see you with our physical eyes, but that doesn’t mean that we cannot see you. We see you moving all around us. We feel you working in us. And as your followers, one day we will meet you in heaven and get to spend all eternity looking into your face. We are so grateful that we serve a God that can overcome death. We praise you that you are not limited to being in one place but are omnipresent. We praise you that you are not limited to doing one thing at a time, but you are all knowing. You are working everywhere in the world simultaneously. How marvelous that people all over the world can witness your hand working at the same time. Please continue to open our eyes to how you are moving. We also ask for the eyes of the lost to be opened to see you and your love for them.
Lord, I love the second half of this verse, because you live, I can live also. It reminds me of the hymn written by the Gaithers, “Because He lives”. It states: “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow, because He lives, all fear is gone, because I know he holds the future, and life is worth the living because he lives.” This is so true. The fact that you came to earth and lived life here gives us such hope. You showed us that we can live holy, joyful, and abundant lives here on earth. Even in the face of opposition we can flourish because you did. We can face tomorrow, whatever it holds, without fear. For you hold our future, and you are completely trustworthy. You have bought our freedom and you make us whole. Life is truly worth living, just because you live. All praise be to your name.
In Jesus name, amen.
