November 10, 2023 - Genesis 32:26
“Then the man said, “Let me go, for the dawn is breaking!” But Jacob said, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”” Genesis 32:26 NLT
Lord, Jacob was wrestling with an angel and would not let go until the Angel blessed him. How often do we give up too easily and forfeit the blessing because of that? There are so many things that we can witness in nature that demonstrate our need to fight or toil before a blessing. We see the butterfly must fight its way through the cocoon before it can fly. We see the farmer who must toil to prepare the land and plant the crop before he can enjoy the harvest. There are so many examples like this. We see so many times in life where it is the darkest right before the dawn and if we don’t “fight” our way through the darkness, we won’t get to experience the light.
Lord, teach us how to endure. Teach us how to keep pressing in even when everything in us wants to quit. We want to cling to your promises with faith when nothing looks like it will work out in a positive way. We want to hang on to you and refuse to let go until we have received your blessings. We want to trust you and fight for our victories. Teach us how to sow and learn to patiently wait for the right season for the harvest to be ready. Help us not to give up when it gets hard, looks impossible, or isn’t coming on our timetable. Give us the same tenacity that Jacob had to hang on to you with expectant faith.
Lord, we ask for your blessings over our lives. We cry out like Jabez, “Oh, that you would bless us indeed.” We thank you for how you love to bless us. We praise you for the blessings that you have poured over us already and the more that is in store for us. You are such an amazingly good and faithful God. It is an honor to serve you and be blessed by you. Thank you.
