“I’m writing to encourage you to fan into a flame and rekindle the fire of the spiritual gift God imparted to you when I laid my hands upon you.” 2 Timothy 1:6 TPT
Lord, this is something we can always be reminded of. It can be so easy to get so wrapped up with the business of life that we forget to fan our flame. We miss a day of spending intentional time with you, then a second and before we know it, it has been a week or two. It is so easy to drift away without even realizing it. Suddenly, we turn to look, and you feel so far away. We find our flame is no longer burning bright but a small flicker, or maybe even warm coals under the ash. Help us always remember it is our job to keep our fire fed, stirred, and burning bright. You will easily burn in us when we purposely tend the fire. You have given us plenty of things that will “feed” our fire. Forgive us for allowing busyness to distract us. You are more important than anything else that we can fill our time with. Forgive us for putting anything else above you. Give us insight on what we need to do to change our behavior. Increase our desire to prioritize keeping our flames burning bright.
Lord, we ask you to touch us again and rekindle our fire. Let us burn bright for you. Show us how to move our flame from candle size to bonfire size. We don’t just want to light up a small area, but we want to have a large impact. We want to bring light into the dark world around us. We want as many as possible to be drawn to the light and warmth in a cold and dark world. Let us show people there is another way to live. Let us burn bright with love, joy, and all the fruits of the Spirit. Let the way that we burn change the negative perspectives of Christians that some people have. We don’t want to see anyone perish without ever encountering your love for them. We want to stir our flame and do our part.
In Jesus name, amen.
