May 31, 2022 - 1 Corinthians 13:11-12
“When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.” 1 Corinthians 13:11-12 ESV
Lord, we want to grow in you. Help us not get stuck in any season. Seasons are to come and go. Life changes and things grow. That is how you designed it. When we get stuck somewhere it isn’t healthy. Sometimes though it is hard to move. It is hard to accept change or get over things that happen. It is so easy to get stuck. It is easy to grow content where we are or to allow pain to stunt our growth in a place. But Lord, when we allow that to happen, we will grow stagnant and stinky, or we will become bitter and push others away. We all know people stuck in those places and they are not the easiest people to be around or love. We also all know the people who just refuse to grow up and want to eternally be treated like a child, to be cared for all their lives. Again, that is not something that others want to deal with for long. And this is definitely not your plan for our lives. We want to continually be growing stronger in you. Growing isn’t easy. It often involves pain as we are stretched. Help us to embrace this pain and not push it away. Help us see where it is taking us and press into what you want us to get out of those seasons so we can grow.
Lord, we know that we will never fully see or know you until that glorious day when we get to see you face to face. But even here on earth, help us keep our mirrors polished so we can see you as clearly as possible. We want to know you as much as possible in this place. That comes as we allow you to grow us. Lord, we welcome whatever you bring into our lives if it means we can know you more fully in this life.
In Jesus name, amen.
