May 30, 2024 - 2 Timothy 2:13
“If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.” 2 Timothy 2:13 NLT
Lord, we praise you for your faithfulness. It is extraordinary. We certainly didn’t earn it and don’t deserve it. As much as we would love to be faithful to you, we fail constantly, yet you are still there being fully faithful to us. As this verse says, it is because your character is faithful. It is who you are, thus it isn’t at all based on our behavior. It isn’t based on if we are faithful to you or if we have earned it. It exists because it is who you are. You are faithful and can’t help being anything but faithful. How freeing is that. Because of this we can always count on you. Lord, help us begin to fully comprehend this fact and what it means to us. Let it set us free. We don’t have to perform for you. We don’t have to walk in fear that if we mess up you will walk away. Help us learn to serve you out of love. Grow our love for you so that we long to be faithful not to earn anything, but because we want to love you the way you love us. Grow our faithfulness out of our love for you.
