May 28, 2024 - Galatians 6:10

“Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.” Galatians 6:10 NLT

Lord, we ask you that you would make us people who live to serve and do good for others. It can be so easy to get wrapped up in our own world, striving to accomplish our to-do lists and not even notice others around us. It can also be easy to follow in the ways of the world that put our needs above others. We don’t want to be people who strive to push our way to the top by pushing others down. If we are living like that in any way, open our eyes to it and help us make it right. Transform us into people who work to push others around us up. If we are all working to take care of each other, we will also be taken care of. That makes such a beautiful picture. As your church we want to be just that. Let the way we love and serve each other be what makes us stand out to the world around us. If we really start living like that with one another, the lost will be drawn into the church. The longing of every person is to be loved and accepted.

Lord, teach us how to truly treat our brothers and sisters in you the way you would want them treated. Convict us when our behaviors are not pleasing to you. Open our eyes to opportunities to serve and do good to others. When we see those opportunities, help us to step out in taking action, even if it means getting out of our comfort zones, even if it costs us something, even if others frown on our behavior. If you are pleased by our actions, and others feel loved and cared for, it will be worth it. Let us live and love like you did Jesus!

In Jesus name, amen.
