May 26, 2024 - Matthew 27:54

“When the centurion and those with him, who were keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they were terrified and said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”” Matthew 27:54 CBS

Jesus, we are so blown away by the price that you paid to bring us back into right relationship with you. You paid the price for all our sins. You submited yourself to the death of a sinner. Not just any death, but a brutal death. We are so beyond grateful. All that your death changed is beyond the comprehension of our earthly minds. The earth shook when you died. It physically mourned. Even the guards who were crucifying you could not deny who you were any longer. What a powerful statement that those who were there in major opposition to you, they were literally torturing you to the death, witnessed something that they could no longer deny you being the Son of God. They would be people who would have a very vested interest in you not being God. After all, who wants to admit that they just tortured and killed God. Yet, they came to the place of having to admit the truth of you being the Son of God.

Jesus, we praise you that even though they killed your earthly body, it was only because you allowed it. We praise you that it was only temporary so that you could accomplish your plan and overcome the power of sin. We praise you that you are the Son of God, and you are alive and well. We praise you for all that you have done for us. Lord, help us spread the word of who you are to the lost around us. Help us live our lives in a way that demonstrates who you are to the point that the lost around us can no longer deny that you are the Son of God, and you love them dearly.
