May 25, 2022 - Hebrews 10:25
“And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:25 NLT
Lord, we, as the church, want to be a unified bride that is encouraging one another to be ready when you return. Please open our eyes to any way that we have looked at the church in a negative way or a way that isn’t what you intended. Forgive us if we have looked at the church as an obligation, a social event, as our main source of fulfillment, or even a place we fulfill a checklist by attending or throwing a little money towards. Also, forgive us if we have forsaken your church because of negative experiences. Help us understand why you want us to be a part of a church fellowship and the importance of being involved in that community. Not only is it a benefit to us in our faith walk, but you have given each of us something unique to offer that’s missing if we don’t engage.
Lord, show us how to engage with your church in a positive way. Forgive us if we have treated fellow Christians, your bride, as inferior, as something to gossip about, or as something to be jealous over. Please open our eyes to see them with your eyes of love. Show us how to respect and love those who are difficult to love. Teach us how to be a church that encourages each other forward and deeper in our walk with you in the most inspiring and loving way. When we need to correct or encourage others in your church show us how to do it with your love and in the fear of the Lord. We know that each person is cherished and adored by you. We want to treat them with respect, mercy, grace, and love even if we are led by you to bring correction. Help us not to allow our own pride, hurt, agenda, or any other negative attitude to get in the way. Help us press in and listen closely to your leading.
In Jesus name, amen.
