May 23, 2022 - Ephesians 2:8-9
“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” Ephesians 2:8-9 NLT
Lord, what an amazing gift you have given us in salvation. It is truly a gift that none of us deserve, yet you have freely given it. Jesus, “thank you” is too small of a statement to express our gratitude for all you did to give us that gift. It is something that you paid an extremely high price for, and dying a sinner’s death was only a portion of that price. Your sacrifice was so great from the moment you laid aside your glorious place next to the Father in heaven to come to earth as a humble human. We can’t even fathom how great your love is for us is that it drove you to make all the sacrifices for us that you made. We are forever grateful and can’t wait to spend all eternity giving you all the praise you deserve.
What a blessing that you have freely given each one of us this gift. Thank you that there are no qualifications or minimum requirements. There is no amount of money or resources that would allow us to purchase it. Its value is more than all the sum of anything of value our universe holds. And we could never live a life that comes close to earning it. All of us fall short of deserving it, no matter how good of a life we live. We praise you that it doesn’t matter how short we fall. It doesn’t matter what kind of life we lived, what sins we have committed, the terrible thoughts we have thought, the family heritage we have come from – none of that matters. We praise you that we are all humbly in the same position of accepting this undeserved gift from you. It is a free gift available to everyone. What an incredible blessing. What an enormous love you have for us. We praise you that all we must do is accept your gift.
In Jesus name, amen.
