May 21, 2022 - 2 Corinthians 10:5
“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV
Lord, we don’t want to allow anything into our lives that is not of you. One of our greatest battles in our walk of faith can often be the battle in our minds. It can be so easy to believe the lies that Satan has fed us all our lives. We can read your truth and believe it to be true on one level but have such a hard time really living by it on a deeper level. We find ourselves arguing in our minds, struggling between the truth and the lies that feel so real in our internal world. Lord, we don’t want to accept that struggle as a battle we will just always face. We know that you can help us change our thinking and be set free from the lies and negative thinking. We praise you for wanting us to live a life of complete freedom.
Lord, we do want to learn how to take every thought captive. Teach us to actually analyze the thoughts we have running through our minds. We ask that you help us recognize lies that don’t fully line up with your truth and demolish them completely. Give us strategies on how to uproot them and remove them fully from our minds. Show us how to recognize patterns of negative thinking that possibly all come down to a belief in a deeper lie. Give us insight on these patterns, where they come from and why they are different from your truth. Give us the strength & wisdom to deal with the underlying issues that are causing these thoughts.
Lord, we praise you that we don’t have to live under shame, insignificance, fear, lust, greed, anger, envy, bitterness, selfishness, etc. We praise you that with your help we can change negative thought patterns like these. We praise you that through you we can live in freedom!
