May 2, 2024 - Hebrews 12:28-29

“Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. For our God is a devouring fire.” Hebrews 12:28-29 NLT

Lord, you are worthy of all our praise. You are the God Almighty. Nothing can overcome you. You are a devouring fire. You can raise up or wipe out a kingdom without any effort on your part. Yet you will always remain unshakable. We praise you that when we choose to follow you, we are adopted into your kingdom. It is unshakeable and will stand forever. Hallelujah! One day we will join you in heaven for all eternity. We never have to worry about your kingdom falling or being overcome. We are forever grateful for this. What peace that fact brings. We are secure in you. We can rest in knowing that you are all-powerful. You will reign forever. We can’t wait to spend eternity worshipping you. We can proclaim along with all of heaven all blessing, all power, all honor is yours forever.

Lord, open our eyes to your sovereignty. Help us look to you with holy fear and awe. Let us see your glory and allow it to change us. Show us your mighty hand working in our lives. Lord, we thank you that you also balance that with showing us your love. You are Almighty and a devouring fire, but you love and care for us so tenderly. We want to learn to balance boldly approaching your throne as a cherished son/daughter but do so with reverence and holy fear of your greatness. We never want to take for granted your majesty. For Lord, you are worthy of all honor and praise.

In Jesus name, amen.
