May 18, 2024 - Matthew 11:25-26
“Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer: “Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth. You’ve concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people. Yes, Father, that’s the way you like to work.” Matthew 11:25-26 MSG
All praise be to our Father, the Lord of heaven and earth. How great that we serve that God. You created and rule over all things. Nothing is greater than you. You are all knowing and all wise. How can any man think he can begin to understand your ways? What kind of God would you be if we could fully understand you. Lord, even though your ways are more than we can comprehend, you don’t hide yourself or your ways from anyone who humbly and whole-heartedly wants to know you.
Jesus, we see this verse in reality when we read about when you were here on earth. We see in the Gospels when you were teaching the everyday people heard the truth and were drawn to you, where the Pharisees who thought they had all the answers were not at all open to hearing the truth. You confused them and they didn’t get it. Lord, help us always be open to your ways even when it isn’t what we thought it would be. Change our thinking where it needs to change. Help us never become know-it-alls that are not open to learning or changing. Teach us more about you and your ways. We praise you that you long to do just that.
In Jesus name, amen.
