May 10, 2022 - Romans 6:9-11

“We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.” Romans 6:9-11 NLT

Jesus, the power within you is so amazing. It is so much more than what our minds can comprehend. There is nothing that can overpower you. We praise you that death cannot touch you. You chose to die for us to pay our penalty, but after that was accomplished, death could not keep you. We praise you that you have defeated death and have risen again. You are the all-powerful God, and we call you friend. That doesn’t even seem like it should be possible, but we praise you for this truth. You are so amazing to us.

We praise you that you have broken the power of sin over our lives. Sin is no longer allowed to have any control over us, unless we give it access. You have set us free, and we want to honor the price that you paid. We don’t want to choose to walk in bondage to something you gave your life to set us free from. We want to accept that freedom and walk in it. Please open our eyes to the places that we are walking in sin. Show us what we need to do to walk in the freedom that we have access to. Give us your strategy for walking in victory. Help us overcome the lies that want to hold us back in the bondage of the sin. Give us a hatred for tolerating it so that we don’t want to give into the temptation. Grow our desire for more of you and less of the sin that holds us back from fully accessing all that you have given us. You will always offer us more satisfaction than our sin. We want to choose to walk in your life and die to our sinful desires. Holy Spirit, help us accomplish this.
