March 7, 2024 - 2 Corinthians 9:6
“Remember this – a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.” 2 Corinthians 9:6 NLT
Lord, we thank you that your kingdom has principles that we can easily understand and work to live by. One of which is sowing and reaping. We will reap what we sow. We also thank you for being such a generous God. You are constantly giving of yourself to us. We want to learn from your example. Help us learn to give like you. We want our lives to be marked with generosity.
Lord, even though the principle is when you sow, you reap, we don’t want the motives of our heart or even our expectations to be that we give to receive. We want to freely give, out of a heart to bless you and others, not just to bless ourselves. At the same time, we understand the principle of sowing and reaping, when we have a need the best way to see it met is to sow into it. Teach us how to be generous people who give even when we have a need, people who give because we have a need. Help us learn to give with faith that you will provide for our needs, but with open hands that trust you if you don’t provide in the manner that we wanted. Grow our faith, God. Help us give sacrificially. Help us give not just of our extras but let us give when it will cost us something. Show us the harvests that will come in when we learn to give to this level. Let our lifestyle reflect our belief that we can’t outgive you.
Lord, we praise you in advance for all the needs you are going to meet as we plant a sacrificial seed in faith, trusting you to provide all we need. You are such a loving God. Thank you for how you care for not just our needs but our desires. Thank you that you want to see us live in abundant blessings. Thank you for showing us part of how to make that happen here in this verse.
In Jesus name, amen.
