March 7, 2023 - Psalms 119:127-133
“Truly, I love your commands more than gold, even the finest gold. Each of your commandments is right. That is why I hate every false way. Your laws are wonderful. No wonder I obey them! The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand. I pant with expectation, longing for your commands. Come and show me your mercy, as you do for all who love your name. Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil.” Psalms 119:127-133 NLT
Lord, make this truly the cry of our hearts. We want to love your commands more than the finest gold. We want to love following them more than we love following our own selfish desires. We want to hate every false way and refuse to even consider walking in them. For your laws truly are wonderful because they are there to protect us and help us grow closer to you. We ask for you to increase our desire to walk in your ways.
In order for us to avoid false ways and walk in your ways, we must know what each of those are. You will teach us those when we spend time studying your Word. We want to find time in our daily schedule to dig into your Word. Help us take that beyond a wish, to a priority that becomes our reality.
Open our eyes as we read your Word and give us your revelations. Clearly speak to us through it. We cry out for your mercy and ask that you would guide our every step with it. We want to see your Word fully change the way we live. Let it become something that we can’t get enough of. We never want to take it for granted but recognize it as the beautiful gift that it is. Increase our memory to be able to lock it away so that when we need its guidance you can pull to our minds the exact scripture we need for what we are facing. It is a wonderfully powerful guide and weapon that we want to rely on all the days of our lives. Thank you for giving it to us.
