March 6, 2024 - Deuteronomy 4:7-8
“For what great nation has a god as near to them as the Lord our God is near to us whenever we call on him? And what great nation has decrees and regulations as righteous and fair as this body of instructions that I am giving you today?” Deuteronomy 4:7-8 NLT
Lord, we thank you so much that you are Immanuel, the God with us. You reside within us. You can’t get any nearer than that. How wonderful that you are always there when we call on you. There is no other god like you. You are the one true God, and it is an honor to be known and loved by you. And it is truly remarkable how well you know us. You know the number of hairs on our head. You know our every thought and the motives behind those thoughts, as well as the influences in our lives that lead us to think the way we think. You know who we are, who you made us to be, and all the possibilities of what we can become. You deeply care about us and your thoughts about us outnumber the sand on the seashore. How remarkable!
Lord, we thank you that you are a righteous and fair God. No one is more righteous or fair than you. Again, you see the motives behind the actions. You know what really happened that led up to the action. You see the full and honest picture. You judge fairly, yet you are a God that also fairly offers mercy and grace to us as well. We are so grateful for how you extend your mercy and grace to us. We would have no hope if you didn’t do so. Thank you, Jesus, for sacrificing your life to pay the price for our sins and take on the judgement that should have been ours. There is definitely no other god who has the right to judge us all, but yet would love us the way you have to the point of making such great sacrifices for us. Jesus, we are so grateful. There are no other gods who can begin to compare to you. We happily surrender our lives to your Lordship!
In Jesus name, amen.
